The Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award, formerly known as the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award, is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given to the player deemed to have performed the best during the NBA Finals. The award was first presented in 1969 and was originally named after Jerry West. In 2009, the award was renamed after Bill Russell, the legendary Boston Celtics player who won 11 NBA championships.
